    An original German Democratic Republic (GDR) award medal badge, issued in the 1970’s in its authentic case.

    Awarded for Activist of Socialist Work: Aktivist der sozialistischen Arbeit

    This award symbolizes the state’s recognition of merit, dedicated work or loyalty to socialist ideals and were usually awarded to workers, specialists or party members.

    It features a hammer and compass surrounded by a wreath of grain that form the national emblem of the former East Germany (German Democratic Republic or GDR), used between 1955 and 1990

    The reverse side often bears the inscription: “To live in the socialist way requires working in the socialist way”.

    Lebanon: The National Order of the Cedars (Type II) Knight

    In December 1943, a Decree removed the mandate flag of Lebanon (blue– white- red) in the design of the Order of the Cedars and replaced it with the national flag – red, white and red with a cedar tree centering the white section.
    Created by the Law of 31 December, 1936, regulated by the Code of Decorations (Decree Law 122 dated 12 June 1959).
    The French inscriptions removed from the reverse and the Arabic retained with the post independence Lebanese flag.
